In the interest of safety all golfers are required to comply with the following;
1. Where their ball lies on disturbed ground it should be lifted and dropped no closer to the hole at no penalty.
2. Where there is a possibility of striking contractor’s personnel with a golf ball it should be moved to the side as required and dropped no closer to the hole at no penalty.

Re-arranged Fixtures
Two competitions recently affected by adverse weather conditions have been re-arranged as follows:
The cancelled August Medal will be replayed on Saturday 29th September in place of the optional medal scheduled for that day. Any monies paid on the cancelled day will go into the 2's sweep. A new starting sheet will be placed on the notice board.
The cancelled Downs Cup competition will now be played on Saturday 13th October. The original starting sheet for that competition will apply. Any member who has his name on the original starting sheet and can not play on the new date should amend the starting sheet before the 1st of October. Any monies from members who withdraw from the competition will go to a recognized charity.
Finals Day
After torrential rain on Saturday causing the abandonment of the Downs Cup, things improved considerably to allow Finals Day to go ahead in reasonable conditions.
The Gents and junior competitions played over 36 holes resulted in some well fought matches.

In the battle for the Club Championship Donald Blair (Above) and Alex Ritchie were all square after 18 holes but some impressive play by former champion Donald, back in the final after a gap of a few years, resulted in him winning the title again by 5 & 4.
In the Juniors Class 1 Kieran Muldoon had a titanic struggle against Jonathan Calder (Below) but he eventually proved too strong for Jonathan ending up winning by a score of 3 & 2.

L-R: Gordon Currie, Fraser Craig, Jonathan Calder & Kieran Muldoon
Gordon Currie played Fraser Craig (Above) in the Juniors Class 2 final. After some impressive play by Gordon he eventually ran out the winner by 5 & 4
The ladies final over 18 holes was between Fiona Scott and Hilary Stuart . Hilary playing in the final for the first time was up against multiple winner Fiona whose experience and strong play was enough to secure victory by a 5 & 4 margin.
In the Gents Seniors, Norrie Good was again in the final and this time he eventually secured victory at the 16th hole against Ian Crawford.
Congratulations to everyone on their success.

MacMillan and Sinclair Salvers
The MacMiilan trophy this year goes to a new (but still well known) senior member of the club. With a solid first round of 69 and an even better 67 in the second round, Harry Marsh won the trophy by 2 clear shots from last year's club champion Ian Hynds (72 & 66). In third place was Robert Hope with scores of 71 & 67.
Other notable individual rounds were 66 by Hugh Watters in the morning and a best of the day 65 in the afternoon by Iain Walker.

Harry celebrates his win in style.
The Sinclair Salver for best gross score was won by Forbes Butterfield with a very creditable score of 141 over the 2 rounds, four shots ahead of Nicol Rennie.
There were also outstanding performances by 3 juniors, athough not eligible to win the trophy, they were competing to qualify for the club championship. The 3 successful youngsters were Jonny Glen, Kieran Muldoon and Colin Baird.
Braidwood Cup
The juniors contested the four round Braidwood Cups from July 2nd to 5th and despite the many rain showers, the competitions were completed, with Jak Muir lifting the prestigious boys' trophy with a four round net total of 259. Richard Murray had led the field for three rounds but with an excellent final round of 65, Jak secured a six shot winning lead. Well done also to 10 year old Eva O'Connor for winning the girls' event with a total of 355 for the four rounds. The best gross prize was won by Alan Henderson (333) and the best single round prize was won by Kieran Muldoon with an excellent third round of 70 gross.

More Success for Pamela
In a field of 63 players, Pamela Pretswell won the Scottish Schoolgirls' title by seven strokes from the favourite, Kelsey MacDonald (Highland) with scores of 68 and 70 over the Gullane No 2 and No 3 courses for a fine total of 138.
Pamela was also runner up in the Munross Trophy over the Montrose Links medal course only losing out to the Renfrewshire Womens’s County Champion Megan Briggs.
As a result of her recent play Pamela’s handicap is now +1.
Not once… but twice
Just to confirm that the first time was'n just luck, Gillian Madden recently had 2 hole in ones in the space of a couple of weeks, one of which was in a medal competition which qualified her for the competition run by the Glasgow Herald from which her name came out of the hat as winner.
When did one of the men last achieve something like this!

In the annual junior event sponsored by the Daily Telegraph 10 of the 19 boys who played had net scores of par or better. Scott Doris and Alan Henderson both shot 64 s and Scott collected the famous Daily Telegraph tee shirt on a count back. The boys also qualified to appear on the Daily Telegraph leader board.

Scottish Boys’ Championship
Two of our Juniors, Colin Baird and Ian Williamson both gave good accounts of themselves in the Scottish Boys’ Championship at Dunbar last week.
Colin was beaten on the last green in the third round, and Ian had a marathon game in the first round, finally losing at the 22nd hole. Well done to both boys
Saturday Medal Times
The draw for all Men's Saturday medal times will in future be posted as Saturday Medal Sheet(PDF file) on this website on the main Members Page. It will be updated before noon on the Thursday preceding the medal. This will save members having to come up to the club to check their allocated tee off time and also reduce the number of calls at peak times to the professional shop.
STRETCH YOUR DRIVING AND YOUR MUSCLES
Golf has evolved over the years into a sport that has embraced new technology in equipment alongside the realisation that the body has to function properly to achieve optimum ball striking.
The use of massage and manipulation to assist in the healing of stiff and painful backs, necks, shoulders and legs and the use of stretching exercises to improve flexibility offers the Club Golfer a new avenue to explore playing golf injury-free and with improved fitness and flexibility.
I am sure this is the way ahead to better golf.
