Each year, clubs throughout the central belt of Scotland are invited to participate with the chance to win a place in the final, which is always a great day for the golfers participating.
The association between Bothwell Castle Golf Club and the charity goes back 24 years, and very generous support over the years from Willie Paterson, of Paterson’s of Greenoakhill, covers the cost of the final day of the event which takes place every May at Bothwell Castle.
The Children’s 1st Tri-am is now an established part of the fixture card for the ladies’ and the gents’ sections of many clubs.

Two Bothwell Castle players competed in this yerar's championship at Southerness and the performance of both Colin Baird and Kieran Muldoon are worth noting.
Colin Baird had an outstanding performance in his first national event for 2008 reaching the quarter final, only to be beaten by Scottish Boy international Paul Shields. Colin ended a thrilling 5th round tie by beating Ian Allan at the 19th having progressed to that point in the championship by comfortable margins.
Kieran Muldoon had his first experience of the national event, and put in a good performance before going down to Daniel King of Dunbar by 2 and 1 in round 1.

Boys' Open - July 07
This year's Boys' Open Competition for the Norman Robson and James Wilkinson trophies attracted an increased number of entries from Lanarkshire clubs and beyond. With the course playing long, and occasional rain showers the quality of golf was good, as the Standard Scratch of 69 suggests. The Robson Cup for the best scratch score was won by Ben Sloan of Hamilton with a score of 74,and an excellent net score of 63 was good enough for Mark Macaulay from Easter Moffat to win the Wilkinson Cup. Alan Stuart and Jack Devlin of Bothwell were among the prizes with net scores of 63 and 68 respectively.

Ben Sloan, Hamilton and Mark Macaulay, Easter Moffat
A big thank you to all those that supported the above junior event, particularly to those members who so generously donated the excellent prizes.
