The Junior Section comprises male and female youngsters aged 8 to 17.

The Club has a strong Junior Section with approximately 100 members. Restricted playing times apply and reference should be made to the fixture card for details.

The Club has a Child Protection Policy in place and adults responsible for supervising junior events are holders of Disclosure Scotland Certificates. Our Child Protection Policy documentation can be viewed below.

There is a strong emphasis on coaching, and all juniors are offered free group coaching with the club professional. Those junior members that show enthusiasm and promise are selected for individual coaching which includes tuition on the rules of golf, golf etiquette and advice on the best mental approach to the game.

The Junior Team has been successful on many occasions in the Lanarkshire Junior League within the local area division and has reached the Lanarkshire final on two occasions.

In recent years, Bothwell Castle Juniors have been represented at county and international levels. While juniors, Pamela Pretswell and Colin Baird achieved exceptional success and both are now continuing that success in the adult ranks.

Junior competitions are held most Saturdays from April to October, and juniors play in two handicap classes with vouchers presented for the monthly medals. Each category has a match play championship with the finals played on Finals Day.

A Boys’ Open competition is held in July each year.

Younger juniors are encouraged to secure a ‘junior’ handicap in the range 29 to 54 in competitions played over a shortened course. This has proved very popular and provides a good introduction to competing under the club handicap system.

The Junior Lounge provides clubhouse accommodation with television, eating facilities, games and notice board with details of all junior events.

Juniors must comply with the Club’s dress code and other behavioural standards both on the course and in the environs of the clubhouse.
